Taykwa Tagamou Nation and OPG Start Construction of New 28 MW Hydro Facility

Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP congratulates Taykwa Tagamou Nation on starting construction of a new hydro generation facility on its traditional territory in Northern Ontario.  TTN, through its wholly-owned company Coral Rapids Power, has partnered with Ontario Power Generation to build the new facility on New Post Creek, located 90 kilometers north of the
Trans Canada Highway.  Once complete, the new $300 million dollar facility will generate approximately 28 MW of power and provide a steady stream of revenue for the community that will stretch into the future.  TTN’s successful partnership with Ontario Power Generation is part of a growing trend of First Nations participation in infrastructure projects in their traditional territories.

TTN's story was recently featured in the Toronto Star.  For more on this exciting new venture, please click here
