Environmental Law

Overview

Our environmental law practice includes transactional due diligence, corporate due diligence, environmental risk identification and analysis, and training in reporting and investigation response.

We work with our clients, business lawyers, environmental engineers and planners, municipalities and provincial ministries to find practical solutions to clean up and redevelop contaminated properties, and to allocate responsibility and liability for cleanup and loss of property value.

We negotiate with regulators on environmental assessment, approval and compliance matters.

We are experienced with soil and groundwater contamination, air emissions and odour, noise and all types of waste.

We work with other lawyers and financial advisors to fill the environmental niche in their real estate and business transaction work to protect our colleagues and their clients from the potential legal and financial hazards associated with contamination and environmental non‐compliances.

We are environmental counsel to some of Canada’s leading industry, providing advice on environmental management and due diligence and directors’ and officers’ environmental liability protection.
