Ontario's MOE posted proposed new clean-up standards for 60 days of public consultation on March 23, 2007. More stringent standards include those for benzene, PAH and TCE. Once finalized, an 18 month phase-in period would permit filing of RSCs under the current standards for properties already in the clean-up process. The new standards would not be retrospective - they would apply to RSCs filed after the phase-in is complete.
